Red 8 Roofing completed roofing works on Australia’s largest IKEA a” the flagship 39, 000mA2 Tempe store. A key feature was a membrane roof system, noted as the first of its kind in Australia, driven by strict height restrictions due to the site’s location directly under Sydney Airport flight paths. The roof form was designed around CASA Civil Aviation Safety Authority height constraints. The site also required specialist construction over the former Tempe Tip landfill (including asbestos management). Total project cost was approximately $120a”135M. The heritage art-deco building on-site was adaptively reused.
